BIS News Update: Resumption of School

Dear Parents,

As many of you are no doubt aware the Federal Ministry of Education has delayed the opening of all schools in Nigeria indefinitely. This obviously impacts on BIS and its programme and we are thus putting in place measures that will reduce the disruption of your child's education. For the moment we are looking at an earliest opening date of September 15th, we shall be constantly reviewing the situation and will inform you of any and all changes. Thus on Tuesday 9th September school will remain closed.
However on that date work will be sent out to all BIS students to ensure a start can be made to the 2014-2015 academic year. Mr Okosodo and Mrs Arole will be co-ordinating the distribution of work and should your child not receive any on Tuesday 9th September 2014 please contact the school.

We realise that many students will not have texts but their teachers will provide resources or links to resources online. Thanks to the miracles of modern technology teachers outside Nigeria and students who are also outside Nigeria can start the school year.

This is not an ideal start to the school year but we feel that with your help we can make a positive start and reduce the disruption as much as possible especially for IGCSE classes.

Should you have any concerns or questions please do not hesitate to contact the school.

Hoping to see you all sooner rather than later.
Peter Yates
