BIS News Update: Monday 24th March 2014

Our week started with a group of Year 10 students accompanying Year 2 students from St. Saviour's on a walk across the new bridge between Ikoyi and Lekki. The younger students are studying structures and the walk across gave them the opportunity study the bridge. Our Year 10 students enjoyed the walk and represented the school with great aplomb.

The PTA are busy preparing for the Lower School Formal Dinner to be held on Friday April 4. Tickets for this special event are available from the Accounts Office at N5000 per person.

Thanks to the efforts of the Registrars Office all the students who took our entry test last Saturday received their results by Wednesday. We are pleased to report that next year's Year 7 will be one of the largest ever to join BIS showing the growing popularity of our school. It also seems appropriate to say thank you to our greatest supporters, you the parents, for helping to get the message about our school. Although we have no more set examination sessions this year entry tests can still be arranged on an individual basis.

The week's highlight came on Friday with the Year 9 wedding presentation that was greatly enjoyed by all. In addition to having a great deal of fun the students learnt a great deal about the world's major religions. Many watching commented on the striking similarities between religions rather than the differences. Our thanks go to Mrs Bodude for all her efforts in putting on this spectacular.

In preparation for the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Expedition later this year a group of Year 10 students spent part of Saturday at the Lekki Conservation centre with Miss Tang. Over the last two terms Miss Tang has been working with students preparing them for their Bronze Expedition.

Although the main IGCSE Examinations begin next month a number of our Year 11 have already started to sit practical papers in subjects like Art and ICT. I am sure you will join us in wishing all students sitting for IGCSE examinations the very best and in reminding them they will make their own luck by preparing thoroughly for these exams.
