BIS Principal's Newsletter 14th February 2017

Dear Parents and Guardians,

This is the final week of the first half of the term and as I write the students are marking St Valentine's Day with the delivery of various items from cupcakes to roses. The information below is of importance as we approach our forthcoming holiday:

Parent Teacher Conference
Effort and attainment grades for the first half of the term are to be published at the end of the week. Please note that we will be holding our end of half term parent teacher conference on Friday of this week (17th February) in New Horizons from 12.30 until 2.30 pm. Friday morning will follow our normal timetable in lessons 1, 2 and 3. Students will have lunch at 11.35 am prior to the parent teacher conference.

Thursday 16th February
Thursday of this week will be a non-uniform day. A charge of 500 Naira will be levied for those not in uniform with the proceeds going to charity.
Discos will be held in the afternoon with the following timings:
Juniors (Years 7-9)                  3.00pm – 5.00 pm
Seniors (Years 10-12)              6.00 pm – 8.00 pm
Tickets are available in school at a cost of 500 Naira.

School and University Visits
The following UK schools and universities will be presenting in the Library at 2.45pm on Thursday 16th February:
Lucton School
University of Cardiff
University of Birmingham

Private Lessons
We ask parents to note that our teachers are permitted to give private lessons to students that they do not normally teach as part of the school timetable, provided that they inform the school's management team in writing in advance. These lessons are not to take place on the school campus and reimbursement is a private matter between the teacher and the individual family.
Our teachers are not permitted under any circumstances to give private lessons to students that they normally teach as part of the BIS timetable as this can lead to a conflict of interests.

Online Payment System
We are currently working on a school fee payment system whereby payment can be made through a portal on the school's website. We are working with a leading bank and further details will be published in due course.

Co-curricular Dance
Please note that a dance co-curricular activity will begin after the half term break. This will be a paid activity involving instructors from outside the school.   If you are interested in joining after half term you can make a payment of 6000 Naira for the half term to Miss. Nnamani.

Formal Dinner
Please note that the final deadline for payment for the PTA Student Formal Dinner is Friday 17th February. Full details appeared in last week's newsletter.

With best wishes for a pleasant and relaxing half term break,
Yours sincerely,

Howard Bullock.
