Dear Parents and Guardians,
First of all, please accept my apologies for the late arrival of this week's newsletter. The week seems to have flown past already! Nonetheless, there are some items for information that we ask you to note carefully.
We look forward to seeing you for our annual inter-house sports day, which takes place this coming Friday (11th November) from 8.15 am. There will be a large number of track and field events and after lunch the presentation of medals and cups will take place in New Horizons.
Higher Education Visits
On Monday of next week (14th November), we look forward to welcoming visitors from the universities of Warwick and Cardiff. They will be meeting interested students and parents from 2.45 in the Library.
On Tuesday of next week Manchester Metropolitan University and our Sixth Form foundation partners NCUK will be in school and will also be meeting students and parents in the Library from 2.45.
Examinations for Years 7-10
We remind all families that our internal examinations for Years 7-10 will take place during the week beginning Monday 28th November. Revision should be the main point of focus during evenings and at weekends for students in these year groups. Mocks for those in Years 11 and 12 will take place very quickly after the Christmas holiday.
In our full school assembly last week, we reflected on the effects of war on those involved and their families wherever and whatever the nature of the conflict. This Sunday (13th November) a group of our students will attend the ceremony of remembrance held at the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Cemetery in Yaba. This poignant event always has a profound effect on those who attend it and as a school we are proud to play our part in commemorating those who gave their lives. Poppies have been on sale in school over the past two weeks and it has been heartening to see the large number of students wearing them.
With best wishes for the remainder of the week!
