BIS Principal's Newsletter 8th September 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the 2016/2017 academic session at BIS. We look forward to meeting our new students and their parents next week as well as seeing our returning students back at school.

Resumption Arrangements
First of all, I am writing to give details of our resumption arrangements for next week. As you will have read in the press, Monday and Tuesday of next week are public holidays and in the light of this the following arrangements have been made.
Boarders are asked to return to school during the afternoon of Tuesday 13th September. All new boarders and their families are required to come to New Horizons, our main assembly hall, at 2.45 pm to meet the Principal and the Assistant Principal, Boarding. After introductory addresses and refreshments they will then proceed to their boarding houses to settle in. Boarders who were with us last year are to report to their houses between 4.00 and 5.00 pm on Tuesday afternoon.
School will resume fully for all students at 8.00 am on Wednesday 14th September. All new students should report to New Horizons where they will be welcomed and assigned to classes. Students who were here last year should consult the noticeboards outside New Horizons and on finding out their form group should proceed immediately to their form rooms.

Excellent Results at IGCSE
We congratulate last year's Year 11 students on a very pleasing performance in their final IGCSE examinations. 91.2% of grades awarded were in the band of A* to C with 43.3% of grades being at A* or A. A large number of students achieved a full battery of A and A* grades on an individual basis. Please look out for our celebratory page in tomorrow's Punch newspaper and next Thursday's Guardian.

Identity/Purchase Cards
These have now arrived in school and will be issued next week to our returning students. New students will go through the issuing process next week. It may take a little while to get used to this new way of making purchases from the school shop and the canteen and we ask for understanding as we implement the new system.

School Calendar
The full calendar of events for the term is almost complete and will be distributed electronically next week. It will also be posted on the school website as a constant source of reference for all.

Weekly Letter
Once again this year we will be sending an information letter each Monday to all parents to give updates and information on what is happening here at BIS.
We look forward to the beginning of another session and wish all our students and their families a pleasant holiday weekend.
Yours sincerely,

Howard Bullock.
