BIS Principal's Newsletter 15th June 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,
As I write this letter, the school is extremely quiet as our students are busy writing their end of year examinations. Equally our teachers are busy with the process of marking and report writing so that we will be able to give you an accurate picture of your child's progress when you come for the final parent teacher conference on July 1st. Full attendance next week is crucial, as going through the examination papers and discussing the results is as important as answering the question papers. Each student will need to analyse his/her performance in each subject and determine an action plan to ensure that any required improvements are made as they enter their new classes in September.

Planning for Activities Week is well underway and as always this promises to be a lively week with activities ranging from Science Day to our end of year production and prize giving. My thanks go to Mr Akinrinade for putting the programme together for this year.

On Saturday of last week, we said our final farewell to Year 11 as they enjoyed their prom night at the Oriental Hotel. There was a real buzz about the occasion and my thanks go to Mrs Halstead and her team for all of the help given to the students during their fund raising process and on the evening itself. It was a very enjoyable occasion.

We ask that specific note is taken of the following:
Health Unit
We ask that, if medication is brought in to school for your child, it is taken directly to the Health Unit and not left in Reception. This will ensure that our nursing staff are fully aware directly of what is to be administered, its dosage and frequency.
We ask also that any outstanding medical information forms are submitted very quickly to the Health Unit.
School Fee Insurance
Later this week, our PTA Executive has asked me to send out a letter regarding an insurance policy through AXA Mansard which would guarantee the payment of school fees in the event of the death or disability of a parent. We would like to receive your feedback as to whether this is something that you would like us to consider for the future and ask that you complete the survey form which we will attach to the letter.
Talent Show
Please note that the student talent show scheduled for Saturday 18th June has now been included in our Activities Week programme and will take place during the morning of Thursday 30th June as a suitable finale to the week. This will give our students more time to prepare once the trials and tribulations of examination week are over.
Yours sincerely,

Howard Bullock.
