BIS Principal's Newsletter 11th May 2016

Dear Parents and Guardians,

You may have well been wondering why I was silent in terms of communication last week. The answer is that I was in Manchester and London attending the conferences of the BSA (Boarding Schools Association) and COBIS (Council of British International Schools) respectively. Both were excellent and provided substantial food for thought as we plan our 'greater tomorrow' for BIS.

Returning to a backlog of paperwork, this letter will be brief. Our Leavers' Ceremony was a very pleasant event and provided a very special farewell for those in Year 11. A big thank you is due to all those who helped to plan and organise the afternoon. Our swimmer and debaters acquitted themselves well last weekend in their competitions and we will share more details of this in next Monday's letter.

One key piece of information to share, concerns the public holiday likely to be held in celebration of Democracy Day on Monday 30th May. To aid planning, particularly for boarders and those travelling, we have taken the decision that BIS will close on that day and that we will resume for the second half of the term on Tuesday 31st May for Years 7 to 10. Boarders will return during the afternoon of Monday 30th May. All students taking public examinations must take careful note that they must follow the CIE IGCSE timetable to the letter and attend all examinations scheduled for them on May 30th. Once published, the CIE timetable does not change.

With best wishes,

Howard Bullock.
