BIS Principal's News Update - 16th March 2015

May we take this opportunity to remind all members of the school community that school will close for the Easter Break on Wednesday 25th March following the Parent Teacher Conferences to be held in New Horizons that day. Teachers will be available to meet with parents between the hours of 8:00 am and 1:00 pm. We look forward to seeing as many parents as possible for these conferences which will be the last before the school examinations.

The IGCSE Examination session will shortly be in full swing and those students sitting for various language examinations will taking the oral sections of the papers in the next week or so.

On Tuesday of this week, March 17th, Year 10 students following the CMI courses will be meeting in the Library to complete the Communication part of the programme. The last section 'Teamwork' due to pressure of events here in school has been postponed until after the break.

The following Day, Wednesday 18th, we will be hosting a number of professionals in school for our annual Careers Forum. At this Forum Year 9 Students get to meet and talk with professionals from different fields about career paths and options. This is an important event as year 9 students will shortly be making their options for IGCSE studies which will have a great bearing on their future careers, the more information we can provided them with the more informed their option choices can be.

At the end of the week, Saturday evening, the whole school will be coming together for a formal dinner. This year's theme is that of a masked Harlequin Ball. For those students who have not yet bought tickets they are still available from the school shop.

Saturday will also be a busy day as the Duke Of Edinburgh International Award students in Year 10 will be running a soccer tournament to raise funds for the development of a library in a national school based here on Victoria Island. This will be the second charity event following on from a very successful movie night held last Friday. Both these events have been organised by students and they have done a wonderful job.

Our Thespians have been working hard with Mr Thompson putting together the final touches for their production of the Merchant of Venice.  This year's Shakespeare production will take place on Tuesday 24th March in New Horizons. The curtain for this production will rise at 6:00pm and we ask all members of the audience to be seated by 5:45 pm.
