BIS Principal's Update 8th December 2014

Dear Parents,

On behalf of the school I would like to thank all the members of the PTA who contributed to the success of last Saturday's Food Fest. Under the direction of our extremely hard working PTA Executive the school once again enjoyed a most successful event. Parents, students and all friends of the school clearly had a good time and enjoyed the wide variety of food served by an army of volunteers.
It was a real pleasure to see all sections of the school community come together to support the PTA in their quest to raise funds for school improvement projects. The main target of this year's fund raising being the development of New Horizon as a theatre with lighting, sound and a stage that matches the skills of our talented young thespians.

On Wednesday of this week the Performing arts Department of the school will be putting on a small production, including drama, singing and dance.
Our students have put together a short melodrama for your entertainment that will be interspersed with seasonal songs and presentations from the school dance team. Entry for this event is free but we will be collecting for charities supported by the Student Council. The event will start at 6:00 pm and last about two hours.

Earlier in the day the match of the season takes place at BIS where the day students take on the boarders for this year's soccer bragging rights. If you have the time, come and join the crowd for this important game.
Although a number of activities will be taking place this week our priority is to follow up on last week's examinations. Students will be reviewing their papers and going over the examination material,
an important step in giving them accurate feedback on their performance and how they can build for future success.

Parents will also have the opportunity to discus pupil progress and examination results on Friday December 12th when reports will be issued between 8:00 am and 12:30pm in New Horizons. Reports for Year 11 students will be available towards the end of January after the year group sit their mock examinations in the second and third weeks of next term.

With the end of this term we say farewell to Mrs Kapoor of the Science Department. After a number of years here in Nigeria, Mrs Kapoor and her family are relocating to Dubai. We wish Mrs Kapoor all the best in her new home.

After the parent teacher conferences the school will close for the Christmas Break and classes resume on Tuesday 6th January 2015.
It only remains for me to wish all members of the BIS community and its friends the very best for the festive season and a very happy New Year.

Peter Yates
