Welcome to the British International School (BIS), Lagos, a warm, vibrant and successful co-educational school situated in the heart of Victoria Island. Thank you very much for taking the time:
• to visit and explore our website (future parents, future staff members);
• to keep updated and find out how well your child is progressing (existing parents and alumni); and
• to those of you who are perhaps interested in working for and with us.
The British International School is located within a spacious, green and tranquil environment. It provides students with an education rooted in the British National Curriculum but blended with key elements of the Nigerian provision at KS3. We are focused on developing and improving our provision across all of our Faculty areas. We have a rapidly developing ‘Creative Arts’ department, an incredibly successful sports programme, revamped and rejuvenated science laboratories and an outstanding business suite of subjects. These are all part of what makes us the school of choice for many families.
Here at BIS, we aim to support, guide, challenge and grow our students into world leaders, authors, politicians, artists, thinkers, researchers and so much more. We recognise that not every child is an academic but that every child is an achiever and deserving of success in their field of excellence.
Our accomplishments have seen our students being rewarded with amazing exam results, achieving and being recognised as best academic achievers in Nigeria, highest achievers in the world. Other students are bringing championships home to the school in a range of sports including, most recently, rugby and international swimming competitions.
Our successful COBIS visit in June 2018, acknowledged the positive parent and student feedback of the school – praising our excellent academic record, the approach ability of the staff, how safe the school makes them feel and the ‘true spirit of community and loyalty’ across the school.
Our ideology and educational philosophy centres around the growth of our students as critical thinkers, who explore learning in the classroom in order to deepen understanding. This, in turn, secures independence of mind, builds personal confidence, broadens each individual’s view on life and the career pathways open to them. As a community, we believe that everyone is a learner and that learning is never complete – regardless of age, social status, workplace position or gender.
Our website aims to provide a tour of the different layers and elements of our school. If you are impressed with what we offer, please come and experience the real school by booking a visit via our Registrar. We look forward to welcoming you into our family and community.
